do I apply?
Simply call the Kinship Navigator toll free number:

Who will I talk to?
You will talk to a staff “Navigator” who is there to
help you.
How long will it take to apply?
The application takes about 20 minutes over the phone.
How often do I need to apply?
Every year. You’ll need to call your Navigator to reapply:
1-877-816-3211.
When can I apply for services?
You can make an application for services anytime by calling the
toll free number Monday through Friday 9 AM to 5 PM.
What happens after I apply for Kinship Services?
A home visit will be set up, so that the community agency that will
be providing services can begin helping you and your family.

WHAT TYPES OF SERVICES CAN WE RECEIVE?
Services available through the Kinship
Navigator Program include (but are not limited to) the following:
--help with paying child care
--referrals to grandparenting and family support groups
--help with getting medical coverage and services
--assistance with child support collection
--housing assistance
--help with paying for legal services/fees
--help to pay for furniture (for example, a bed, a computer, computer
supplies for the child)
--tutoring services for the children in your care
--help with paying for summer camp for the child
--financial services
HOW LONG AM I ELIGIBLE
FOR KINSHIP SERVICES?
Am I eligible to receive services every year?

Yes, as long as the child(ren) remain in your care.
CUSTODY
Is custody necessary before we apply for Kinship Services?
No, but you must be able to prove that you are related to the child(ren)
- or that your have legal guardianship of the child(ren) - and that
the child(ren) resides in your home.

What is Kinship Legal Guardianship?
A new legal status that can be obtained through a court proceeding.
Your Navigator will explain more when you call 1-877-816-3211.
Can I get any other benefits from Legal Guardianship.
Yes, you may be eligible for a subsidy. Call your Navigator for
more information.
