CASS, the Consolidated Assistance Support System, is New Jersey's comprehensive, cutting-edge social service information system that will modernize the way we administer services to the more than 1.5 million New Jersey residents in the following major programs: Work First New Jersey - both General Assistance and Temporary Assistance for Needy Families, SNAP, Child Care, Medicaid and NJ FamilyCare.

Related to CASS is the Document Imaging Management System or DIMS. This system will allow county welfare agencies to electronically image, store and retrieve verifications and other documents for all supported programs. DIMS, which will be linked to CASS, launched statewide in October 2013.

For example, if you scan a birth certificate into DIMS, the image becomes the official document of record for the case.

With CASS/DIMS:

• Client information will be entered once. Then CASS will run the rules and determine eligibility across CASS-administered programs.
• Interfaces that the counties use will be accessed through CASS. For example, staff won't have to log into other information systems to verify employment or Social Security income.
• The entire case file, including verification documents, program requirement documents and program forms, will be electronically imaged and stored in DIMS so staff won't have to look for or request the same document again if a case reopens, moves to another county or a client applies for another supported program. CASS will show that these required pieces of information are already verified.
