Pregnant women who meet the general
requirements and financial eligibility criteria
for New Jersey Medicaid are covered..
If the woman is eligible at any time during her
pregnancy, she will remain eligible until 60 days beyond the end
of her pregnancy.
A pregnant women who meets all the other criteria
for New Jersey Medicaid except that she is an alien because she
entered this country before August 22, 1996 is entitled to receive
the care and services necessary for the treatment of an emergency
medical condition. This includes labor and delivery. She is not
eligible for any other New Jersey Medicaid benefits.

New Jersey Medicaid Program for Pregnant Women and their infant children
This program provides New Jersey Medicaid
for pregnant women who meet the general requirements but whose family
income is up to 185 percent of the federal poverty level, or $32,653
for a family of four. This coverage extends to women during the
pregnancy and for 60 days following delivery or the date on which
pregnancy ends. A child born to an eligible woman may be eligible
for New Jersey Medicaid for up to one year regardless of changes
in the family's income.

Medically Needy Section of New Jersey Medicaid for Pregnant Women
Pregnant women who meet all the criteria for New
Jersey Medicaid except that their income or resources are too high
may qualify for the program through a spend down provision that
allows documented medical expense to be used to reduce monthly income
to meet eligibility limits.
Pregnant women eligible for this program are entitled
to most Medicaid services except inpatient hospital care and prescribed
drugs. This includes long term are services.
