WHAT
IS REPORTED? Patient abuse (including
verbal and/or physical abuse), neglect, and professional misconduct
at any of the psychiatric hospitals operated by the New Jersey
Division of Mental Health Services (Ancora Psychiatric Hospital,
Senator Garrett Hagedorn Psychiatric Hospital, Trenton Psychiatric
Hospital, Ann Klein Forensic Center, Arthur Brisbane Child
Treatment Center, Greystone Park Psychiatric Hospital).
WHO MUST REPORT? All hospital employees.
Reports will also be accepted from patients and visitors.
WHEN/WHO DO I REPORT TO? IMMEDIATELY
to the charge person on the unit and to your supervisor (if
you are a hospital employee), and finally, to the Patient
Services Compliance Unit within the State Division of
Mental Health Services at 1-888-490-8413.
The report to the Patient Services Compliance Unit must be
made as soon as possible, but NO LATER THAN 24 HOURS AFTER
HAVING REASONABLE CAUSE TO SUSPECT OR BELIEVE THAT A PATIENT
HAS BEEN ABUSED OR THAT A CLINICAL TREATMENT STAFF OR DIRECT
CARE STAFF IS ENGAGED IN PROFESSIONAL MISCONDUCT. |
