Collaborative Partners and Projects
BUILD NJ: Partners for Early Learning
The Build NJ: Partners for Early Learning initiative is funded by the Early Care and Education Funding Collaborative. Members of OECE participate as Core Team members, along with a group of local and national foundations that have pooled their money to create a fund to finance some states to do advocacy around developing comprehensive systems of early learning for children -- infants to age five. Four states were identified for initial funding: New Jersey , Ohio , Minnesota , and Illinois . New Jersey was selected primarily due to the advancements we had made in universal preschool because of the Abbott decision.

Infant/Toddler Credential Development (CITE)
OECE participates on the Coalition of Infant/Toddler Educators' (CITE) infant and toddler workgroup to explore professional development opportunities for staff working with children under three years of age to enhance their professional competencies and improve the quality of services to infants, toddlers, and their families. Articulation and credential issues are being explored.

Strengthening Families through Early Care and Education Initiative-NJ (NJ SFI)
The NJ Strengthening Families Initiative (NJ SFI) is an approach to preventing child abuse and neglect by strengthening families through early care and education. The Center for the Study of Social Policy developed the Strengthening Families through Early Care and Education Framework. The fundamental principle is that certain protective factors contribute towards family resiliency and strength. Early Care and Education Centers play a prominent role in building these protective factors among the families they serve. Through seven key strategies, centers can become well positioned to help families build these protective factors that have proven to be effective in preventing child abuse and neglect.
