Woodbridge Developmental Center, founded in 1965, is an Intermediate Care Residential Facility for individuals with developmental disabilities. Currently, the facility is designed to accommodate 576 residents who live in 18 Cottages. Each Cottage is the home for 32 individuals.

The general make-up of the population is 56% male and 44% female with the majority between the ages of 22 to 45 years. Woodbridge residents have some degree of medical complication in addition to their cognitive disability so there is a great need for a holistic nursing approach and the nursing skills to help coordinate the team who plans and implements their care.

The facility is located in the Avenel Section of Woodbridge Township and is easily accessible from Route 1, Route 9, Route 35, the Garden State parkway or the New Jersey Turnpike.
