Orientation Program for Physicians and Podiatrists

As you may be aware, N.J.S.A. 45:9-7.1 requires that any doctor licensed after July 1, 2003 must successfully complete an orientation course within twenty four months of becoming licensed. The New Jersey State Board of Medical Examiners will offer the orientation course at the Hughes Justice Complex in Trenton New Jersey on the following dates:

    Registration begins at 8:00 a.m. The course will be presented from 8:30 a.m. to 1:00 p.m., with a half hour break during the session. Topics to be covered include:

  • Statute, Regulations, and the Administrative Procedure Act
  • Functions of the Board of Medical Examiners and the Administrative Office
  • Ethics
  • Pain Management
  • Sexual Misconduct/Use of a Chaperone
  • Unprofessional Behavior (use of profanity; disruptive physician behavior)
  • Impairment Issues
  • CDS Prescribing
  • Record Keeping
  • Termination of Physician Patient Relationship
  • Billing and Communication.
