WHAT:
The Division of Criminal Justice - Office
of Bias Crime and Community Relations
will host the annual “New Jersey
Cares About Cyber-Bullying” conference
Mon. Nov. 28 -Wed.,
Nov. 30. The conference, part of
the “New Jersey Cares About Bullying”
campaign launched two years ago by the
Division of Criminal Justice - Office
of Bias Crime, will target bullying activities
in New Jersey schools and communities.
The “New Jersey Cares About Cyber-Bullying”
conference will promote awareness and
education and discuss increases in bullying
actions through E-mails, instant messages,
and online diaries, known as web-blogs
or blogs.
Attorney General
Peter C. Harvey will be the keynote speaker
on Nov. 28 at 9:15A.M. and
Samantha Hahn, the former Miss Teen New
Jersey, will give a personal account on
the impact of cyber-bullying on Nov. 30
at 9:30A.M. More than 100 law enforcement
officers and educators will participate
in workshops which target the impact of
cyber-bullying on the victim; the role
of the Internet and providers; and models
for effective prevention and intervention
of cyber-bullying.
