TRENTON
— The State Board of Canvassers
today certified election results for the
2005 General Election for the offices
of Governor, State Assembly, and to fill
the remaining two years of a State Senate
term in the 37th Legislative District,
Attorney General Peter C. Harvey and Division
of Elections Director Ramon de la Cruz
announced.
The
Board of Canvassers also certified election
results for two public questions, approving
an amendment to the New Jersey Constitution
to establish the Office of Lieutenant
Governor, and approving an amendment to
the New Jersey Constitution to Expand
Uses of Dedicated Tax Revenue to Fund
Air Pollution Control and Administrative
Costs of the Underground Storage Tank
Program.
The
Board of Canvassers formally certified
the 2005 election results during a meeting
this morning at the State House in Trenton.
Attorney General Harvey served as chairman
for the meeting. Membership of the Board
of Canvassers consists of two State legislators
from each major political party. They
are Senator Leonard Lance (R-23); Assemblywoman
Linda R. Greenstein (D-4); Assemblyman
Joseph R. Malone III (R-30) and Assemblyman
Reed Gusciora (D-15).
Today’s
Board of Canvassers meeting completed
a certification process that, during the
past several weeks, involved the systematic
review and re-tabulation of election results
from around the State to ensure accuracy.
