| Youth Leadership Safety Program Course
The New Jersey State Police, Field Operations Sections, Traffic & Public Safety Bureau, School and Traffic Safety Unit will conduct an eight-hour Youth Leadership Safety Program Trainer Course/Refresher, to be held at the Troop “C” Headquarters Classroom, Hamilton, New Jersey. The training will take place Monday, February 28, 2011, 8:00 am to 4:00 pm.
The Youth Leadership Safety Program is elementary through middle school curriculum consisting of fourteen lessons which focus on safety awareness and the development of social competence, communication skills, respect, responsibilities and decision-making skills. Lessons include topics such as Bullying, Internet Safety, Health & Nutrition, Safe Boating & Water Safety and Conflict Resolution. This course is recognized and sponsored in part by the New Jersey Association of School Resource Officers (NJASRO).
Officers who have received certifications and are currently certified in one of the following school-based programs, such as the Drug Abuse Resistance Education (DARE), the Gang Resistance Education Training (GREAT), and Basic School Resource Officer (SRO) are eligible to attend this one-day eight-hour (8) certification and/or refresher course.
