State Police Seek Public’s Assistance with Rash of Suspicious Fires

West Trenton, N.J. - The New Jersey State Police is seeking the public’s assistance with a multi-agency investigation of a series of suspicious brush fires that burned large areas of forest in Burlington County over the past several months.

Detectives from Red Lion Station and investigators from the State Forest Fire Service, Park Police, Fire Marshal’s Office, and the Burlington County Fire Marshal’s Office are investigating the following suspicious brush fires:

  • March 10, 2016 fire in Penn State Forest, which consumed 347 acres
  • April 17, 2016 fire in Wharton State Forest, which consumed 115 acres
  • May 12, 2016 fire in Bass River State Park, which consumed 464 acres
  • June 12, 2016 fire in Woodland Township, which consumed 357 acres
