Continuing Education Requirements and Approved Continuing Education Programs

The continuing education requirements approved by the Board require that each LSRP earn 36 Continuing Education Credits (CECs) during the three year term of his or her license.  CECs may be earned by attending Board approved continuing education programs, or participating in Board approved continuing education activities; which includes instructing a continuing education program, preparing and presenting a presentation, and authoring a paper that is published in a professional publication or peer reviewed proceeding of a conference.

Of the 36 CECs that each LSRP must earn, a minimum of three must be ethics CECs, a minimum of 10 must be regulatory CECs, and a minimum of 14 must be technical CECs.  The remaining 9 may be in any one or more of these three areas of education.

Each LSRP may earn up to 18 CECs by participating in Board approved alternative verifiable learning format courses.

Each LSRP may earn up to 18 CECs through Board approved continuing education activities (i.e. instructing a continuing education program, preparing and presenting a presentation, or authoring a paper that is published in a professional publication or peer reviewed proceeding of a conference).

An LSRP may not earn continuing education credits by attending or instructing the same continuing education program more than once during each three year license term.

No LSRP may apply continuing education credits earned during one license term toward another license term, except that an LSRP who earned continuing education credits while holding a temporary license may apply the continuing education credits he or she earned during the 18 months prior to receiving his or her permanent license toward the first term of his or her permanent license.

It is the responsibility of the LSRP to:

1.  Track fulfillment of the continuing education requirements; and

2.  Demonstrate fulfillment of continuing education requirements when applying for license renewal.

Upon completion of a Board approved continuing education program each LSRP should be presented with a certificate of completion from the continuing education provider.  These certificates should be kept by the LSRP as evidence of completion of the continuing education.  If the continuing education provider does not provide a certificate, contact the provider as soon as possible.
