Deborah Lerner has been a public relations and communications professional for more than 30 years.
Ms. Lerner founded Lerner Duane Communication, Inc. in 1990. The firm has represented major American corporations, universities, small and mid-size businesses and not-for-profit agencies, providing public relations strategy development and execution that includes national and local media placement, copywriting services and event management. Since 2005, LDC has focused primarily on representing not-for-profit clients, providing them with public relations counsel and communications strategy.
In a 15-year corporate career, Ms. Lerner served on the public relations staff of The Prudential Insurance Company, now Prudential Financial, in Boston; Holmdel, New Jersey and Newark, New Jersey. As Director of Public Relations for Prudential's Newark Corporate office, Ms. Lerner was responsible for a nine-member staff and $2 million Public Relations division budget. She played a fundamental role in the formation of the first Public Affairs Department at Prudential Property and Casualty Insurance Company, Holmdel, and during her years with the company's Northeastern Home Office in Boston, developed and executed community and business relations programs. Ms. Lerner began her PR career as assistant director of public relations with the New England Conservatory of Music, Boston.
A 1973 graduate of Simmons College, Boston, Ms. Lerner holds a bachelor's degree in communications. She is currently pursuing a master's degree in Jewish-Christian Studies at Seton Hall University, South Orange, New Jersey.
Ms. Lerner and her husband Daniel J. Duane have three children.
