The 63rd Army Band features several performing groups which include a Concert Band, Jazz Band, Marching Band, Dixieland Ensemble, Woodwind Quintet, Jazz Combo, Rock Band, and other small ensembles.
Our Concert Band opens each of our concerts. Its repertoire includes marches, popular show tunes, vocal selections, traditional concert band pieces, and some "not so traditional" concert band pieces. Our 1997 concert tour featured a circus march where members of our percussion section performed an unforgettable Keystone Cops routine, which delighted our audiences.
Dixieland Ensemble and Stage Band
After the Concert Band finishes, our Dixieland Ensemble plays. This group does a master job of getting the audience geared up for the Stage Band portion of our shows.Stage Band Leader, SGT "Ray Ray" Johnson, and SGT Jim "The Hammer" Hines the assistant leader, do a superb job leading this popular group. The Stage Band plays everything from Glenn Miller and Duke Ellington to today's latest hits. To quote the retired assistant leader, SGT Mickey Plumeri "the band ROARS"!
Marching Band and Other Ensembles
Our Marching Band is a popular participant in area parades and military ceremonies. Its Drum Major is SFC Frank Batsch. We have a number of smaller combos which also perform during some of our concerts, and a special Jazz Combo, which is a frequent performer at the United Nations.
