Command Philosophy
Vision: A totally and professional and tactically proficient DISCOM ready to respond to our Division Commander's demand or our state Adjutant General's need for the absolute best combat service support available.

Mission: To serve our nation in time of war or our individual state in time of crisis or emergency, we are the 42d DISCOM - "First in Support".

Guiding Principles:
- We will "Wave the Rainbow", proud of our lineage, proud of whom we are and what we represent.
- We will value our diversity and equal opportunity for all to succeed.
- As leaders and soldiers in the DISCOM, we serve as examples of what the DISCOM is and can be.
- By our motivation, example and commitment we inspire our fellow soldiers to excel.
- We will seek out and accept responsibility and be accountable for everything we do.
- We will maintain high ethical standards and care for and respect our fellow soldiers.
- We will always give our best effort for the betterment of our unit and the DISCOM.
- We are mission first but safety always.
- Our soldiers are our most precious resource and every soldier is critical to the mission. We will do whatever it takes to ensure all our soldiers are active and participating members.
- We recruit and retain soldiers, "one soldier at a time" knowing that soldiers who believe they are part of the Team and their contribution is appreciated and recognized will be back.

Our goal: A proud and satisfied soldier at the end of every training day.
