13 jun Updated Information On Doo Wop Concert At The Izod Center
The Izod Center has released this press release for the upcoming Doo Wop concert. Service members get in free and family members with a dependent’s ID card get in for half off. The press release mentions 50% off for Veterans but I have talked to the POC listed at the bottom and he confirms that family members get in for 50% off.
If you’re an old timer like me come out and relive your youth (personally I like “Speedo” and “Gloria” by Speedo And The Cadillacs.). If you’re a youngster come out and find out what real music and the roots of much of today’s music is like. Treat your parents to a great night of music!!

HVVA Army Band Concert with Fireworks
The Hopewell Valley Veterans Association (HVVA) is hosting a 63rd Army Band concert and fireworks display at Alliger Park on Sunday, June 28, 2009 from 7:30-9:30 pm. The concert will include patriotic songs, military tunes and traditional concert band pieces in celebration of Independence Day. The Army Band is the largest military ensemble in NJ and includes some of the area's top professional musicians who are also NJ National Guard members. Alliger Park is located at 203 Washington Crossing- Pennington Road in Titusville, NJ and is adjacent to the Hopewell Township Public Works Building. 28 jun Universal Resorts Offer Free Tickets
Universal Orlando Resort is offering a special benefit to Service Members visiting the park this year. The Military Salute program gives members of the Air and Army Guard or retirees, a free two-park, seven (7) day ticket.
Family members and friends can receive up to a $35 on their tickets. The tickets are valid also for select Universal CityWalk clubs and venues during the time period the tickets are being used.
Those interested in receiving or purchasing the tickets must present a valid military ID at any of the participating military base ITT/IR offices nationwide or the Shades of Green Resort in Orlando Florida. The tickets must be obtained by June 28 and used by Dec 17. See the flyer for more information.

4 jul NJ Women’s Soccer Team Sky Blue FC Military Night
The Sky Blue women’s soccer team is offering a somewhat Military Night (there will be Police and Firefighters invited) on Saturday July 4, 2009 at 7:00 pm during their game against the Boston Breakers. They are inviting all members of Police, Fire and Military to the game. All members of the military will receive free admission to the game with a military ID. Family members will be admitted for a reduced price of $15 ($19 is the regular price) a ticket and kids 12 and under are $12.
We are looking forward to this event and we think its a great night to honor men and women who serve our country as well as give them the chance to see Women's Professional Soccer. Our home games are played at Yurcak Field in Piscataway, NJ on the campus of Rutgers University.

11 jul OMK Aqua-Adventures (Revised)
The previously mentioned 3 day Aqua Adventures program has been cancelled and replaced with this program. Sorry for any inconvenience this may have caused.
WHO: For Military Youth in grades 4 through 8 who have experienced deployment.
WHAT: Aqua-Adventures is a fun educational program for youth focusing on marine and fresh water ecosystems and their conservation. The program will provide hands on learning while exploring the various environments, and animal habitats. The program will include the following:
1) 13 June 2009 - A day at Adventure Aquarium in Camden exploring a wide variety of aquatic ecosystems and a tour of the Battleship NJ
2) 11-12 July 2009 - An overnight camping experience at Liberty Science Center. After LSC closes to the public, we get to explore all of the hands on experiments, the 3-D movie and the IMAX theater. Included is dinner, an evening snack and breakfast!
COST: FREE (Please note; a $30.00 deposit is required to hold your place. The deposit will be refunded at the close of LSC Camp-In.

19 jul 2009 Youth Camp Information and Family Programs Website
Camp application deadline has been extended to 15 June 2009. Youth Camp dates are 19-25 July 2009 and the 2009 Youth Camp applications are posted on our state website. Go to http://www.state.nj.us/military/familysupport/youth_camp.html where you will find updated information and the applications for signing up your child. DO NOT previous years applications as we have changed them extensively to comply with rule changes made on us by NGB and the camp administrators. You will ONLY delay the acceptance of your child until you can fill out a 2009 application (not to mention the hassle of getting your physician and notary to redo their work!!

New Jersey National Guard Youth Camp at Sea Girt: July 19-25, 2009: This year's youth camp will be held for youth ages 9-17 and volunteers 18 and older. Youth ages 9-14 will participate in various activities throughout the week of July 19-25, 2009. Activities include, sports, beach, archery, arts-n-crafts and much fun!! Counselors and Volunteers will be at camp from July 18-25, 2009 as Saturday July 18, 2009 from 1-4pm will be a MANDATORY TRAINING. The fee is $100 per camper (ages 9-14) and free for counselors and volunteers. Anyone interested in working as a Senior Counselor MUST provide a cleared fingerprint background check. Operation Purple Summer Camps: The National Military Family Association is now accepting applications for its popular Operation Purple Summer Camps. Each camp is "purple" and open to children of any uniformed service member, active duty or reserve component. This year the National Military Family Association will host military children at Operation Purple Camps in 62 locations in 37 states and territories.
These free, week-long, overnight camps are open to all military children ages 7-17. The program aims to help military kids experience carefree fun while also learning coping skills to deal with deployment-related stress and fostering relationships with other children who know what they are going through. Operation Purple camp allows kids to gain confidence by learning to be stewards of the community and of the environment.
The Operation Purple program currently includes traditional summer camps, teen camps, teen leadership camps, family retreats, camps for families of the wounded and day clinics in overseas locations. In appreciation for all you do to safeguard the liberties we all enjoy, Camp Speers-Eljabar YMCA is proud to establish Partners with Heroes for military children and teens entering grades 3 - 11. Through this program, we are connecting children of military parents to the opportunities offered through our summer camp program. 2009 Camp programs begin on Sunday, June 28th and run through Saturday, August 22nd with one and two week sessions. The special Partners with Heroes fees are $ 506.25 for one week or $ 975 for a two week session of our traditional camp program. This represents a 25% reduction on our regular fees.

31 dec Here’s to the Heroes (Select Theme Park Free Admission)
Any active duty, activated or drilling reservist, or National Guardsman is entitled to free admission under the Here's to the Heroes program. He or she need only register, either by clicking here and submitting his or her information or in the entrance plaza of participating parks, and show a Department of Defense photo ID. As many as three direct dependents of military personnel also are entitled to free admission. Dependents may take advantage of the offer without their service member, though an adult must accompany minor dependents, and dependent ages 10 and over must present valid dependent I.D. Busch Gardens Williamsburg and SeaWorld San Antonio are seasonal operations that will remain closed until spring 2009. It is a great learning experience on reconnection and communication. Priority goes to previously deployed soldiers and then soldiers who have not yet attended.
