Sgt. Maj. Zarro joined the New Jersey Army National Guard on Feb. 1, 1969. He has served with the 1st Battalion, 102nd Armor; 3rd Battalion, 112th Field Artillery; Headquarters 1st Brigade, and his current position with Recruiting and Retention. His awards and decorations include the Meritorious Service Medal, Army Commendation Medal, Army Achievement Medal, Good Conduct Medal, National Defense Service Ribbon, Army Service Ribbon, Overseas Service Ribbon, and the Armed Forces Reserve Medal.
