Vets Get New Wheels

The New Jersey Department of Military and Veterans Affairs (NJDMAVA) announced today that it has obtained three vehicles to be used by residents of Vets Haven, the Homeless Veterans Transitional Housing program located in Winslow Township.  The vehicles, a 1997, 1998 and 1999 Ford Crown Victoria came from Maple Shade Township's municipal fleet and was obtained at a cost of only $1 per vehicle.

Robert A. Sauselein, Superintendent of Vets Haven explained the importance of this new acquisition, “These vehicles will enable three of our current residents to seek better employment beyond the range of the local public transportation system and significantly increase their chances of improving their quality of life.  On behalf of the Department and our resident veterans, I extend our deepest thanks and appreciation to Mayor Joseph and, Council Members James Fletcher, Jack Galloway, Lou Manchello and Claire Volpe as well as Township Manager George Haeuber for this outstanding and extremely generous demonstration of support for our veterans.”

Vets Haven is the only Homeless Veterans Transitional Housing program in the state.  It provides temporary housing, job training, counseling and other services to New Jersey veterans.  The two-year transitional program currently maintains a resident population of 54 veterans.
