Volunteers Honored For Donating More Than $627,793 In Time To Paramus Veterans Home

   


WHO/WHAT: Volunteers at the Paramus Veterans Memorial Home will honored by the New Jersey Department of Military and Veterans Affairs for the more than 32,000 hours donated by individuals, corporations, veterans' organizations and community groups.

 

WHEN: Monday, April 20, 2009 at 10 a.m.

 

WHERE: Holiday Inn, 283 Route 17 South in Hasbrouck Heights

 

      The Paramus Veterans Home has currently 129 active individual volunteers. In addition there are approximately 120 Clergy Volunteers.

 

      Calculated hours April 1, 2008 thru March 31, 2009 for Individual Volunteers: Individuals 11,913 hours - Students 8,265 hours - Clergy 12,000 hours.

 

      Total approximate volunteer man hours: 32,178.

 

      Valued at President's Economical Report for 2007 at $19.51 per hour, a total estimated value of volunteer time to be $627,793.

 

      The Paramus Veterans Home has over 200 supporting organizations. These organizations are also the ones responsible for major contributions, such as: 46“and 52” large screen HD flat screen TV sets, six 19” flat screen TV sets with DVD combos, DVD players, videos and large numbered clocks, 5 Electric Wheelchairs, Motorized Scooters, two Nintendo Wii game systems, 15 portable radios, an upright electronic piano, an EZ Electronic Yamaha Key Board, two gas BBQ grills, phonecards, easy listening personal earphones and over 300 sweat suits, in addition to cash donations of $139,715.
