Mays Promoted To Lieutenant Colonel

Mark C. Olsen) LAWRENCEVILLE, N.J. – Air Force Maj. Yvonne L. Mays, daughter of Freddie and Frankie Allen of Steubenville, was promoted to lieutenant colonel during the New Jersey National Guard's Military Review at the National Guard Training Center at Sea Girt, N.J. Sept. 30.
Mays was promoted by New Jersey Governor Chris Christie and Brig. Gen. Michael L. Cunniff, The Adjutant General of New Jersey, whom she serves for as the executive officer. She is stationed at Joint Force Headquarters, Joint Base McGuire-Dix-Lakehurst, N.J.
Prior to serving as executive officer, Mays was the bilateral affairs officer representing the New Jersey National Guard in the Republic of Albania. Her other duty assignments included executive officer and personnel officer for the 177th Fighter Wing, New Jersey Air National Guard, Pomona, N.J. The 1983 graduate of Steubenville Big Red High School, Mays enlisted in the Air Force in 1983 and received her commission as a second lieutenant in 1999. |
