VA To Present $10.8 Million For Cemetery Improvements At Veterans Day Ceremony

 

 


WHO: On Veterans Day the federal Veterans Administration will present a nearly $10.8 million check for improvements to the busiest state veteran’s cemetery in the county.

New Jersey Lt. Gov. Kim Guadagno will receive the $10,796,649 from Steve L. Muro, Under Secretary for Memorial Affairs, U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs.

Joining the hundreds of veterans at the state Veterans Day ceremony will be Third District Congressman Jon Runyan.

The event will include a Flag Retirement Service, wherein the ashes of hundreds of flags will be entombed.

DETAILS: The Brig. Gen. William C. Doyle Veterans Memorial Cemetery is New Jersey’s sole state-operated veterans’ cemetery.  Dedicated in 1986, it is managed by the New Jersey Department of Military and Veterans Affairs.  The Doyle Cemetery is the busiest state veteran cemetery in the nation, averaging 2,750 interments each year.  It is the final resting place for more than 45,000 veterans and family members.  For more information on the cemetery, go to www.state.nj.us/military/cemetery/index.html.
