New Jersey Guardsmen To Return Home From Afghanistan Deployment
WHO/WHAT: Brig. Gen. Michael L. Cunniff, the Adjutant General, the leadership of the New Jersey National Guard and family members will welcome nearly five dozen Citizen-Soldiers from 117th Combat Sustainment Support Battalion from an approximately year-long deployment to Afghanistan.
WHEN: Sunday, Jan. 20, at 11 a.m.
WHERE: Trenton-Mercer Airport, 152 Scotch Road, West Trenton, N.J.
Details: The 117th CSSB performed a wide variety of sustainment operations for all U.S. Coalition Forces in Regional Command-South in Afghanistan. They successfully served as the Battalion Headquarters for Active, Reserve and National Guard formations ranging in strength from anywhere between 900 and 1500 Soldiers at any given time. The unit transported sustainment packages to more than 45 Forward Operating Bases and Combat Outposts traversing more than 2 million miles of the most dangerous terrain in the world.
