New Jersey Guardsmen To Return Home From Afghanistan
WHO/WHAT: Brig. Gen. Michael L. Cunniff, the Adjutant General, the leadership of the New Jersey National Guard and family members will welcome a dozen Citizen-Soldiers from Military Advisory Team-4 from an approximately year-long deployment to Afghanistan. The Soldiers represent nine New Jersey counties; Bergen, Burlington, Camden, Essex, Middlesex, Morris, Ocean, Union and Warren.
WHEN: Monday, April 7 at 9 a.m.
WHERE: National Guard Armory, 151 Eggert Crossing Road., Lawrenceville, N.J., 08648
Details: The Military Advisory team members – all seasoned veterans with at least one previous combat deployment – helped train the Afghan Army as part of NATO’s International Security Assistance Force. For this deployment, the Team partnered with Soldiers from the Albanian Defense Forces. The New Jersey National Guard has been serving as mentors to the Albanian forces for nearly 20 years. The training New Jersey provided to the Albanians was instrumental in that former communist-bloc country gaining admittance to NATO in 2009.
