Dozens Of Volunteers Celebrated
For Service To
Paramus Veterans Home
WHO/WHAT: Dozens of volunteers from the Paramus Veterans Memorial Home will enjoy a lunch to celebrate their 25,519 hours donated to the residents of the long term care facility. Those hours of selfless service equates to more than $600,000 dollars in manpower saved.

Volunteers assist with afternoon programs, the cooking group, arts and crafts, dayroom activities, such as music, trivia, exercise and table games. These volunteers serve coffee daily in the dayrooms, provide room visits, pet therapy, take care of the plants/flowers inside the facility mealtime companionship. Volunteers serve as shoppers for the residents needs once a week, escort residents on an individual basis during day trips and provide daily assistance on the Alzheimer’s units.
The volunteers and organizations mostly from Bergen County they include: Veterans Organizations, such as American Legions, Veterans of Foreign Wars, Catholic War Veterans and Jewish War Veterans, Military Order of the Purple Hearts, Disabled War Veterans, Vietnam Veterans, AMVETS, and Military Order of the Cooties, Merchant Marines, Gooney Birds and Korean War Veterans. Community Groups including The Benevolent and Protective Order of the Elks, Lions Clubs, Loyal Order of the Moose, Knights of Columbus, Masons, Jersey Cares, Easter Seals, Rotary Clubs, Boy Scouts, Girl Scouts, Women’s clubs and Garden clubs.
