In a ceremony on August 1, held at the Woodstown Armory, Governor James E. McGreevey signed two bills into law that will benefit members of the New Jersey National Guard.
The first law increases the minimum pay for Guard members on State Active Duty (SAD) to $100 a day. The second law establishes health care coverage through the State employee health benefits program. It applies to immediate family members of National Guard personnel called to SAD for 30 or more days and lose their employment- related health benefits coverage.
The ceremony was attended by members of both the
New Jersey Army and Air National Guard, including troops
who are guarding the nuclear power plants and airmen who
are supporting Operations' Enduring Freeedom and Noble
Eagle. Col. Maria Morgan, The Deputy Adjutant General,
Senator Diane B. Allen, 7th Legislative District; Senator
Stephen M. Sweeney, 3rd Legislative District and Assemblyman
John J. Burzichelli, 3rd Legislative District also
participated.
