Jersey Guardsmen Win Sinai Force Skills Competition

Courtesy DMAVA Highlights

Click to EnlargeFor the first time an Army National Guard unit has won the Multi-National Forces and Observer’s Force Skills Competition. And that unit happens to be New Jersey’s 1st Battalion, 114th Infantry.

Soldiers from every Company within New Jersey’s 1st Battalion, 114th Infantry competed in the event. The Competition is similar to the Olympics, but with events focusing on soldiers’ skills. Soldiers gutted out the grueling obstacle course, five-kilometer run, steady shoot, and swim during the physical portion of the competition, and then had to follow up with the mentally challenging land navigation, first aid and general knowledge events.

The Columbian and Fiji Islands battalions provided the Battalion the toughest competition with the 1-114th winning by less than a point. Other contingents included the First Support Battalion, Australian, British, French, Hungarian, Italian and New Zealand forces.
