Bilateral Affairs Officer Position –
1. This bulletin is
to announce the position vacancy for fill of the Bilateral Affairs Officer
(BAO) in
2. The position is a
tour of Extended Active Duty (EAD) for one year unaccompanied, or two-year
accompanied. The grade required is a senior Captain or mid-career Major; Branch
immaterial.
3. BAO assignment
incentives are: 1 year PCS tour/unaccompanied, 2 Year PCS tour/accompanied;
individual housing provided in country; active duty points earned toward
retirement; high level Joint Forces assignment; TDY from EUCOM out of
Stuttgart, Germany; Diplomatic Status and Embassy Privileges; use of Embassy
VIP badges/privileges available; member of Ambassador's Country Team; Joint
Forces Achievement or Joint Forces Commendation Award given for service;
Overseas Service Ribbon awarded for 1 year plus service; high level and very
visible assignment; works with US Ambassador, NATO Commander, NATO Partnership
for Peace, Embassy Country Team, Minister of Defense, Chief of the General
Staff, MACOM Commanders, other Embassies, etc.

AREA OF CONSIDERATION: Current members of the
QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS: Strong organizational,
operational, logistical, and interpersonal skills necessary for this
assignment.

DESCRIPTION OF DUTIES: Serves in the United States
Embassy as Bilateral Affairs Officer at the U.S. Office of Defense Cooperation
(ODC) in Tirana assigned to assist in the

NATIONAL GUARD MEMBERSHIP AND
ASSIGNMENT REQUIREMENTS:
Applicant must be a current New
Jersey Army National Guard member. If the Applicant is an O-4, you are not
promotable while on this assignment. The tour is a PCS and will be for an
initial period of 24 months (accompanied). Tour continuation of 1 additional
year will be contingent upon satisfactory performance and the recommendation of
the NJNG and EUCOM.
MEDICAL REQUIREMENTS:
Applicants must meet the
following medical requirements for eligibility:
1.
Medical examination must be conducted within three (3) years of the closing
date of the vacancy announcement
2.
HIV Testing must be accomplished within 6 months prior to departure
3.
Female applicants: Must be tested for pregnancy within 30 days prior to
departure
