If a New Jersey Air National Guard (NJANG) member is selected, the person must transfer to the NJARNG, and must attend a 4 week Warrior Transition Course.

 

If the individual selected is currently on a title 10 tour no action can be taken until he/she is released from tour.

MAJOR JOB DUTIES (a copy of the complete position description is available in the Human Resource Office):  Uses a wide variety of inspection techniques to inspect standard electronic systems such as radar, radio communications receivers, and transmitters (single band, UHF and VHF), mobile subscriber equipment (MSE), missile guidance systems, laser range finders, and electronic fire control systems. Conducts inspections, diagnoses nature and extent of equipment malfunction, and as required, performs required maintenance to restore to a serviceable condition various types of tactical computers, radio sets, etc. Inspects equipment to determine repairs needed. Inspects the full range of equipment as described above at remote worksites in support of field organizations, field units during field exercise training periods, or before major pieces of equipment are sent for repair to a supporting maintenance facility. Performs other duties as assigned.

 

QUALIFICATIONS:   Must have a valid state driver’s license for New Jersey or your state of residence.

 

GENERAL EXPERIENCE:  Experience, education, or training which demonstrates the applicant’s knowledge of electrical or electronic theory, knowledge of common testing procedures, skill in the use of hand tools of the electronics trade, and skill in reading schematics.

 

SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE:  Must have 18 months experience in diagnosing problems and determining needed repairs for malfunctions in electronic equipment or systems. 

ABILITY to install, repair, and maintain electronic systems or equipment. 

ABILITY to troubleshoot and diagnose malfunctioning electronic equipment and systems and determine the level and method of repair.

ABILITY to use hand tools and precision measuring equipment.

SKILL in using diagnostic and testing equipment.

ABILITY to interpret technical manuals, illustrations, specifications, diagrams, and schematics to make repairs and modifications.

 

SUBSTITUTION FOR SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE:  Study successfully completed in a college, university, technical or vocational school may be substituted for experience at the rate of one year of study (30 semester hours or 20 classroom hours of instruction per week) for 6 months of experience.  Course must be directly related to the work of the position.
