If a New Jersey Air National Guard (NJANG) member is selected, the person must transfer to the NJARNG, and attend a 4 week resident Warrior Transition Course.

 

If the individual selected is currently on a title 10 tour no action can be taken until he/she is released from tour.

MAJOR JOB DUTIES (a copy of the complete position description is available in the Human Resource Office):  Manages, monitors or performs overall maintenance, servicing, inspections and documentation for one or more highly technical, high performance military aircraft.  Ensures Unit Level Logistics-Aviation (ULLS-A) and other aircraft documentation accurately reflects status and airworthiness of assigned aircraft.  Clears red X status symbols on aircraft forms for work performed by others.  Plans, develops and conducts proficiency training during the technician work week to a multi-faceted workforce comprised of Full Time Support (FTS) and supported unit personnel.  Prepares for and participates in various types of readiness evaluations, inspections, mobilization and support exercises.  Complies with safety, fire, security, environmental, and housekeeping regulation.  Performs other duties as assigned.

 

QUALIFICATIONS:  Candidates must have a valid state driver’s license.

 

GENERAL EXPERIENCE: Experience, education, or training which has provided the candidate with the skill to remove and replace aircraft parts, accessories, and components, and to make adjustments and settings according to established specifications.  Must be skilled in the use of hand tools and test equipment.

 

SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE:  Must have 18 months experience coordinating the work of other mechanics, and scheduling maintenance to ensure completion of critical actions and optimum workflow.

ABILITY to do diversified work with tools and equipment requiring extreme caution in maintaining close dimensions. 

KNOWLEDGE of aircraft components and maintenance procedures. 

ABILTIY to diagnose, troubleshoot and determine remedy where overall knowledge of all systems of aircraft is required. 

ABILITY to inspect aircraft, determine mechanical deficiencies and analyze results. 

ABILITY to interpret instructional material, schematics and specifications for complex mechanical problems on assigned aircraft.

 

SUBSTITUTION FOR SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE:   Job related education/training in aviation technology may be substituted on a day-for-day basis for not more than one half of the required specialized experience.
