MAJOR JOB DUTIES (a copy of the complete position
description is available in the Human Resource Office):
Plans
and lays out work to be accomplished in the shop which is then completed by the
technician and lower graded machinist(s). Performs the full range of
shop work. Implements
safety regulatory requirements.
Prepares for and participates in various types of readiness evaluations,
inspections, mobilization, and command support exercises. Performs other duties as
assigned.
GENERAL EXPERIENCE: Experience, education, or training which
demonstrates the candidate’s ability to operate machine tools and their
attachments; and to use measuring instruments and equipment. Must have a knowledge
of the machinability of metals and other materials, and be able to read and
interpret blueprints, sketches, work sheets or other specifications.
SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: Must have 18 months experience in the following:
ABILITY to use precision measuring
devices.
ABILITY to plan and schedule specific
work assignments.
ABILITY to conduct on-the-job
training and recommend employees for formal training programs
KNOWLEDGE in machine shop operations
ABILITY to implement safety
regulatory requirements
ABILITY to prepare or and
participate in, environment compliance inspections, readiness inspections,
mobilizations and command support.
ABILITY to maintain production reports and records.
SUBSTITUTION FOR SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: Study successfully completed in a college,
university, technical or vocational school may be substituted for experience at
the rate of one year of study (30 semester hours or 20 classroom hours of
instruction per week) for 6 months of experience. Courses must be directly related to the work
of the position.
