EVALUATION METHODS: Applications will be

MAJOR JOB DUTIES (a copy of the complete
position description is available in the Human Resource Office):
Uses tools of
the trade to perform maintenance and repair of aircraft and installed
equipment. Replaces
parts, accessories and major components.
Troubleshoots aircraft systems to determine cause of
malfunctions and extent of repairs needed. Performs periodic and
special inspection to determine that aircraft are ready for flight. Uses technical
publications, schematics, and specifications. Devises modifications and changes to improve
the productivity of the work process
QUALIFICATIONS: Candidates
must have a valid state driver’s license.
GENERAL EXPERIENCE: Experience,
education, or training which has provided the candidate with the skill to
remove and replace aircraft parts, accessories, and components,
and to make adjustments and settings according to established specifications. Must be skilled in the use of hand tools and
test equipment.
SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: Must
have 18 months experience installing, adjusting, aligning, troubleshooting
parts, subassemblies and components and functionally testing the various major
and minor mechanical and pneudraulic systems on an
aircraft during overhaul or modification.
ABILITY to do diversified work with tools and
equipment requiring extreme caution in maintaining close dimensions.
KNOWLEDGE of aircraft components and maintenance procedures.
ABILTIY to diagnose,
troubleshoot and determine remedy when overall knowledge of all system of
aircraft is required.
ABILITY
to
inspect aircraft, determine mechanical deficiencies and analyze results.
ABILITY to interpret
instructional material, schematics and specifications for complex mechanical
problems on assigned aircraft.
SUBSTITUTION FOR SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE:
Job related education/training in aviation
technology may be substituted on a day-for-day basis for not more than one half
of the required specialized experience.
