MAJOR
JOB DUTIES (a copy of the complete position description is available in the
Human Resource Office): Balances, reconciles, adjusts and examines accounts. Obligates, disburses, and maintains general
ledger control and subsidiary accounts. Prepares monthly reconciliation and recapitulation of accounts. Uses guidelines, pamphlets
and regulations. Codes
transaction for entry into an automated system; corrects machine rejects and
traces out-of-balance conditions reflected in printouts. Assigns, directs and reviews work of
employees
GENERAL
EXPERIENCE: Clerical experience which demonstrates arithmetic
aptitude and ability, accuracy and attention to detail, and the ability to
apply established procedures for recording and compiling data.
SPECIALIZED
EXPERIENCE:
Must have 12 months experience in the
following:
KNOWLEDGE of accounting methods,
forms and techniques.
KNOWLEDGE of general ledger and
subsidiary accounts.
SKILL in arithmetic computation,
applying formulas or conversion tables.
ABILITY to analyze the
interrelationship of accounts affected by varied transactions.
KNOWLEDGE of disbursements and fund
accounting, methods, procedures and techniques used in balancing and closing
accounts.
ABILITY to interpret written
instructions.
ABILITY to interpret and apply a
variety of accounting regulations and guidelines.
KNOWLEDGE of procedures to enter,
modify retrieve and delete information in an automated system.
ABILITY to plan, organize and
coordinate work.
SUBSTITUTION
FOR SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: High
School graduate or the equivalent may be substituted for 3 months of
specialized experience. Schools above
high school may be substituted; one academic year for 12 months of the required
experience.
