MAJOR JOB DUTIES (a copy of
the complete position description is available in the Human Resource Office):
Performs Air Terminal Operations Center
duties. Provides aircraft status
information to each work center within the aerial port to include current
arrival and departure data (i.e., cargo, passengers, and mail aboard) based on
inbound and outbound load messages.
Plans, schedules, and trains traditional Guard personnel on the
inspection and operations of aircraft loading equipment; drop zone recovery
equipment, mobility/contingency function (i.e., load planning, pallet buildup,
cargo courier responsibility and hazardous cargo preparation); and the
preparation and rigging of loads and parachutes for aerial delivery. Performs airdrop inspections after priorities
are set, work sequences are determined, and pertinent policy matters have been
reviewed. Rigs and prepares unilateral
airdrop training loads to include type V or other airdrop platforms for
airdrops. Performs drop zone control
operations as Drop Zone Controller/Safety Officer. Determines storage location
and stores cargo to protect against loss, theft, weather, and other damage. Receives, processes, and categorizes
shipments of cargo. Performs
fleet service. Checks
in passengers, processes, schedules, transports, and escorts passengers to and
from the aircraft. Performs other duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS: Must possess a valid state driver’s license for the state in which you reside or are principally employed.
GENERAL EXPERIENCE: Experience, education, or training
which demonstrates the knowledge of equipment and practices associated with the
type of work to be done.
SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: Must
have 18 months of experience in the following:
KNOWLEDGE of Air Terminal Operations Center (ATOC)
functions and operation sufficient to plan, coordinate, facilitate, and
expedite on-time movement of air cargo in accordance with applicable rules and
regulations.
SKILL and ability to train traditional guard
personnel in all aerial port functions.
KNOWLEDGE of drop
zone control operations to direct and control drop zone operations.
KNOWLEDGE of and
ability to receive, warehouse, process, and categorize cargo and to process
related paperwork.
ABILITY to select
and assemble aircraft loads, and to load and offload aircraft.
ABILITY to operate a variety of materials handling
equipment (MHE) utilized in moving cargo within the air terminal and to transport
cargo to and from the aircraft (i.e., 4-10K forklifts, 25-60K aircraft loaders,
etc.).
KNOWLEDGE of proper safety practices to perform all
aerial port responsibilities in a safety manner.
SUBSTITUTION FOR SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: Study successfully completed in a college, university, technical or vocational school may be substituted for experience at the rate of one year of study (30 semester hours or 20 classroom hours of instruction per week) for 6 months of experience. Courses must be directly related to the work of the position.
