              AREA I      -  All Excepted Technicians of the 108th Air Refueling Wing (ARW)

              AREA II    -  All Excepted Technicians of the New Jersey Air National Guard (NJANG)

              AREA III   -  All members of the NJANG or those eligible for membership.

 

If a New Jersey Army National Guard (NJARNG) member is selected, the person must transfer to the NJANG.

 

If the individual selected is currently on a title 10 tour no action can be taken until he/she is released from tour.

NATIONAL GUARD MEMBERSHIP STATUS:  Employment in this position requires concurrent military assignment to a compatible military position in the New Jersey National Guard in one of the following military specialty codes:

AFSC:  2A0XX, 2A3XX, 2A5XX

 

NOTE:  THE INDIVIDUAL SELECTED HAS ONE YEAR TO OBTAIN ADVERTISED AFSC/MOS

 

LEVEL OF CLEARANCE/INVESTIGATION:  Must Be Able To Obtain Secret Security Clearance.

 

PRE-PLACEMENT PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:  Requires a physical profile of: 3 3 3 1 3 1

 

METHOD OF SELECTION:   NJDMAVA TPR 335.A Merit Placement Plan and the current negotiated union contract.

MAJOR JOB DUTIES (a copy of the complete position description is available in the Human Resource Office):  Performs maintenance on one or more complete electronic integrated systems such as the Fuel Savings Advisory System (FSAS), Self Contained Navigation System (SCNS), All Weather Landing System, Completes operational checks, inspections, tests, and trouble shooting of line replaceable units (LRUs) which are linked with the integrated systems and, also a number of LRUs which are independent or associated with nonintegrated systems.  Performs maintenance on automatic flight control systems, instrument systems, communications and navigation systems, and intertial navigations systems.  Recommends method to improve equipment performance, technical data, and maintenance procedures by reporting hardware and equipment and in technical data, and assists in design changes as necessary.  Conducts on-the-job training on assigned systems and related support equipment and tasks to include classroom instruction as necessary.  Processes and accounts for due-in from maintenance (DIFM) supply assets.  Prepares for and participates in various types of readiness evaluations such as Operational Readiness Inspections (ORI), Inspector General (IG) inspections, and Unit Effectiveness Inspections and mobility and command support exercises.  Performs other duties as assigned.

 

GENERAL EXPERIENCE:   Experience, education, or training which demonstrates a knowledge of electronics principles involved in a number of applications such as radar, data processing, and date display, as well as mechanical and hydraulic knowledges involved in operations of equipment such as control valves, gyros, turrets, and mounts and mechanical computing devices.

 

SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE:.  Must have 18 months experience in the following:

KNOWLEDGE of theory of electronics. 

KNOWLEDGE of algebra and basic trigonometric functions. 

ABILITY to locate and diagnose malfunctions in integrated electronic systems. 

ABILITY to interpret technical manuals, diagrams, and schematics. 

ABILITY to use hand tools and precision measuring equipment. 

SKILL in the use of diagnostic and testing equipment. 

 

SUBSTITUTION FOR SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE:  Study successfully completed in a college, university, technical or vocational school may be substituted for experience at the rate of one year of study (30 semester hours or 20 classroom hours of instruction per week) for six months of experience.  Courses must be directly related to the work of the position.
