              AREA III   - All personnel eligible for membership in the NJANG

 

If a New Jersey Army National Guard (NJARNG) member is selected, the person must transfer to the NJANG.

 

If the individual selected is currently on a title 10 tour no action can be taken until he/she is released from tour.

MILITARY POSITION:       177th Fighter Wing/ASOS

 

NATIONAL GUARD MEMBERSHIP STATUS:  Employment in this position requires concurrent military assignment to a compatible military position in the New Jersey National Guard in one of the following military specialty codes:

AFSC: 2E1XX

 

NOTE:  THE INDIVIDUAL SELECTED HAS ONE YEAR TO OBTAIN ADVERTISED AFSC/MOS

 

LEVEL OF CLEARANCE/INVESTIGATION:  Must Be Able to Obtain Secret Security Clearance.

 

SELECTIVE PLACEMENT FACTORS: To obtain the required AFSC, acceptance of this position requires a minimum ASVAB Score of 70 in the Electronic area.  ASVAB scores will not be required to apply for the position, however applicants must obtain required ASVAB scores prior to acceptance of the position. The applicant must verify their scores with their Military Personnel Flight/Military Personnel Office.

 

PRE-PLACEMENT PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: Requires a physical profile of: 3, 3, 3, 2, 3, 3

 

METHOD OF SELECTION:   NJDMAVA TPR 335.A Merit Placement Plan and the current negotiated union contract.

MAJOR JOB DUTIES (a copy of the complete position description is available in the Human Resource Office): Directs the installation, testing, evaluation, modification, maintenance, and reporting of the full range of Communications-Electronics (C-E) equipment and systems assigned. Plans, develops, and implements local maintenance policies, procedures, and goals for effective administration, direction, management, and operation of all squadron flights.  Ensures the proper use, management, and training of all personnel, consisting of multiple technical disciplines within the flight.  Interviews and recommends selection of new employees.  Provides training and orientation.  Provides technical assistance to organizations/units in establishing digital communications requirements.  Prepares and submits budget estimates and revisions for the procurement, installation, and maintenance of equipment and supply items. Ensures formulation of comprehensive training plans for each function and specialty within the flight. Exercises continuing responsibility for safety conditions, procedures, and work practices employed within the maintenance community.  As a working supervisor, works alongside subordinates performing the non-supervisory work of the flight. Perform other duties as assigned.

 

QUALIFICATIONS: Candidates must have a valid State driver’s license for the State in which they live or are principally employed.

GENERAL EXPERIENCE: Experience which demonstrates the candidate has the ability to plan and organize work, and give technical direction to technicians supervised. A high degree of knowledge of work procedures is required in all lines of work that will be involved in the job.

 

SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE:  Must have 18 months experience in the following:

ABILITY to plan and organize the work of the assigned electronic section.

ABILITY to meet deadlines.

KNOWLEDGE of electronic maintenance functions.

ABILITY to work with others.

ABILITY to oversee and train subordinate supervisors, to deal objectively with workers and tender sound supervisory decisions.

ABILITY to devise new methods.

 

SUBSTITUTION FOR SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE:  Study successfully completed in a college, university, technical or vocational school may be substituted for experience at the rate of one year of study (30 semester hours or 20 classroom hours of instruction per week) for 6 months of experience.  Courses must be directly related to the work of the positions.
