If a New Jersey Army National Guard (NJARNG) member is selected, the person must transfer to the NJANG.

 

If the individual selected is currently on a title 10 tour no action can be taken until he/she is released from tour.

MAJOR JOB DUTIES (a copy of the complete position description is available in the Human Resource Office): Plans and lays out work to be accomplished in the shop which is then completed by the technician and lower graded mechanic (s).  Performs the full range of shop work.  Implements safety regulatory requirements.  Prepares for and participates in various types of readiness evaluations, inspections, mobilization and command support exercises.  Performs other duties as assigned.

 

GENERAL EXPERIENCE: Experience, education, or training which demonstrates the applicant's knowledge of basic electrical and mechanical principles; knowledge of troubleshooting procedures used to isolate malfunctions in aircraft pneudraulic systems; and ability to use technical manuals, equipment specifications, and test calibration procedures in performing the work., prescribed test results, or to achieve systems reliability.

 

SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE:  Must have 18 months experience in the following:

KNOWLEDGE of the work of mechanics of other trades, and as for example, electrical, sheet metal, working in the environs of the aircraft structure

KNOWLEDGE of aircraft structure and the relationship of aircraft pneudraulic systems to the structure and to other aircraft systems and ability to operate test panels and ground power equipment

KNOWLEDGE of aircraft structure in fuel cell repair or replacement and leak detection in cells and tanks.

KNOWLEDGE of electrical shop functions for testing, and the Structural Repair Shop for sheet metal repair and sealant work

SKILL in diagnosing malfunctions and overhaul pneudraulic accessories by disassembling, cleaning, and examining parts for corrosion, wear, scratches, cracks, or other damage, replacing gaskets and worn parts, reassemble accessories, and adjust and test to insure proper operation in accordance with specifications.

ABILITY to fabricate fuel, oil, and vacuum hose lines, and test as provided in technical orders

 

SUBSTITUTION FOR SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE:  Study  successfully completed in a college, university, technical or vocational school may be substituted for experience at the rate of one year of study (30 semester hours or 20 classroom hours of instruction) for 6 months of experience.  Courses must be directly related to the work of the position.
