HOURS OF OPERATION

POLICY STATEMENT:

The Division of Veterans Healthcare Services provides Medical and Long Term nursing care to meet the health needs of the New Jersey Veterans and eligible others 24-hour per day, seven days per week. The Division mandates New Jersey Veterans Memorial Homes establish the hours of work for all employees, the hours of access for public business, and the hours permitted for visitation.

PURPOSE:

To ensure that the New Jersey Veterans Memorial Homes provide nursing services, licensed nursing, and ancillary personnel during all hours of operation to assure the health care and custodial needs of all residing residents are met, and to alert interested others as to the visiting hours and/or business hours serving the general public.

PROCEDURE:

A. New Jersey Veterans Memorial Homes

 

1. Employee work hours shall be determined in accordance with Departmental objectives in support of a 24 hour per day, seven day per week “Extended Nursing Facility” operation, including weekends and holidays.

2. Visiting hours shall generally begin at 8:00 AM and end at 8:00 PM daily, the exception being if a resident is critically ill, he or she may receive visits at any time from next of kin or guardian, unless a physician or advanced practice nurse documents that this would be harmful to the resident’s health.

3. Business hours shall begin promptly at 9:00 AM and end at 4:30 PM Monday through Friday. Administrative Offices, i.e.: Personnel, Business, Administration, and Social Services, etc… are open to conduct business during the above mentioned days and hours, the exception being holidays celebrated on a weekday.
