MEDICAL SERVICES POLICY STATEMENT

 

POLICY STATEMENT:

The Division of Veterans Healthcare Services requires each of the New Jersey Veterans Memorial Homes to establish a medical services program that will meet the medical care needs of all veteran home residents, regardless of race, creed, color, sex, national origin, mental and/or physical handicap, in accordance with Federal and State Regulatory and Licensing requirements.

PURPOSE:

This policy and procedure shall serve to ensure veteran home residents are provided medical services by qualified and licensed professional staff, who shall abide by all Federal and State laws, rules, regulations, and who believe in the dignity and worth of each individual, providing medical care needs regardless of race, creed, color, sex, national origin, mental and/or physical handicap.

PROCEDURE:

A. New Jersey Veterans Memorial Homes

  1. The New Jersey Veterans Memorial Homes shall establish a medical services program, under the administration of a Medical Director licensed to practice medicine by the New Jersey State Board of Medical Examiners, who shall coordinate and direct medical care services in accordance with Federal and State laws, rules, and regulations, assuring each resident receives needed individualized medical services which:
 

a. Provides optimal medical care service interventions within available resources, and consistent with achievable goals.

b. Provides veteran home residents individualized medical care plan interventions, designed to assist residents to achieve their maximum potential of independence.

c. Provides residents with rehabilitative services when the need arises.

d. Provides an environment that is clean, sanitary, free from contagion, and safe from hazardous wastes for residents, personnel, and visitors.

e. Works with other facility services, state departments, and private organizations that contribute to the ultimate well being of the residents.
