REHABILITATION SERVICES

I. POLICY STATEMENTS:

A. Physician orders for Speech Therapy, Physical Therapy, Occupational Therapy, and Audiology Services shall include specific modalities and the frequency of treatment. These orders shall be entered into the residents medical records.

B. Physician orders for medically appropriate Speech Therapy, Physical Therapy, and Audiology Services shall be documented as the outcome results of these services, and shall be entered into the residents medical record.

C. Speech-Language Pathology and Audiology services shall be provided by individuals with a Certificate of Clinical Competence from the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association.

D. Physical Therapy services shall be provided by one or more Licensed Physical Therapists. Certified Physical Therapy Assistants may work under the direct supervision of a Licensed Physical Therapist.

E. Occupational Therapy services shall be provided by one or more Certified Occupational Therapists. Certified Occupational Therapy Assistants may work under the direct supervision of a Certified Occupational Therapist.
