MAINTENANCE DEPARTMENT POLICY STATEMENT

It is the policy of the Maintenance Department to be responsible for fire protection, transportation, grounds services, maintenance and construction projects for the New Jersey Veterans Memorial Homes.

Responsibilities are defined as follows:

Maintenance - The replacement or mending of existing work with equivalent materials, or the provisions of additional work or material for the purpose of the structure and the adherence to such other standards of upkeep as are required in the interest of public safety, health and welfare.

Fire Protection - A means of providing protection to the veteran home residents' and employees in the case of fire and to ensure that prompt action is taken to minimize facility property damage.

Transportation - To ensure all motorized vehicles are maintained in a safe operating condition, and to ensure that individuals are transported in a manner that is appropriate to their need.

Grounds Service - To maintain the facility property in a clean, aesthetic, and safe environment.

The Maintenance Department is regulated by the Standards of the New Jersey State Uniform Construction Code, New Jersey Department of Health and Senior Services, United States Department of Veterans Affairs, the New Jersey Public Employees Occupational Safety and Health Act, and the Department/Division Policies and Procedures.
