MEAL PLAN POLICY/PROGRAM

POLICY:

The New Jersey Veterans' Memorial Homes, through established guidelines, shall offer nutritionally balanced meals to all full time employees, volunteers and visitors through the Meal Plan Program for a nominal fee or on a courtesy basis.

There shall be no reimbursement for employees who are out sick or on vacation. Any employee who cancels the Meal Plan Program will not be able to re-enroll for a period of six (6) months.

Each facility will establish a means of control for the implementation of the Meal Plan Program.

At the discretion of the Chief Executive Officer, meals may be offered without charge.

PROGRAM:

Full Time Employees -

 
 

Employees shall sign up for a payroll deduction, at the established rate, through their Personnel Department. This will provide one (1) full course meal each working day.

Full time employees who have not signed up for the Meal Plan Program will not be entitled to purchase a meal.

Overtime services provided by any full-time employee will make them eligible for a meal when a full tour of duty is worked. Written authorization by a supervisor must be provided to the Food Service Department.

Reimbursement for a meal will be made in accordance with the "Travel Regulations" when employees' enrolled in the meal Plan Program are away from the facility on official business.


Visitor Meals -

 
 

Complimentary meal passes shall be authorized by the Chief Executive Officer/designee for the resident family members on the day of admission.

At the discretion of the Chief Executive Officer, complimentary meals shall be provided.

Meals provided during holidays or special events will be provided for a fee determined by the Chief Executive Officer.


Volunteer Meals -

 
 

Volunteers who provide a minimum of four (4) consecutive hours of service are allowed a meal when served.

Upon approval of the Activities Coordinator, volunteers who will be working other than during the regular lunch will be offered a meal during the donated service time.
