PERSONNEL ACTION PROCESSING

PURPOSE:

To ensure a smooth movement of personnel transactions.

DEFINITION:

Personnel Action Processing is defined is the ongoing actions by which various personnel movements, e.g. new hires; promotions, demotions, leaves of absences, etc. are initiated and approved.

PROCEDURE:

A. Personnel actions are requested by department heads.

B. Such requests are reviewed by the Personnel Officer for appropriateness and for any supporting documentation.

C. If appropriate, properly justified, and authorization provided, the Personnel Officer initiates the action in accordance with procedures established by the department, by NJAC Title 4A, by Salary Administration Memoranda, by PMIS, or by any other procedure governing the processing of such actions.

D. Upon approval or disapproval, the generating department head is notified. If approved, appropriate action is taken via the PMIS system, and notification made when final approval is received.

E. All personnel actions requested on a salary range code of 29 or higher will be processed through the Personnel Division, DMAVA.
