New Federal Identity Requirements Begin Monday, May 7 at MVC
(TRENTON) – New Jersey Motor Vehicle Commission customers are reminded that new federal identity requirements will take effect Monday, May 7 for anyone applying for or renewing a driver license, non-driver ID or permit at an agency.
While customers will no longer be required to present 6 Points of Identification, they must follow three simple steps under the new TRU-ID program to demonstrate proof of legal presence, legal identity, social security number and principal address.
Although very similar to 6 Point ID, customers are encouraged to review TRU-ID requirements prior to an agency visit. Complete information is available at www.njmvc.gov/tru.
