“What’s NEW in New Jersey History: The Latest Techniques, Research, and Practice in the Field” is the theme of the 13th annual History Issues Convention, which will be held at the Trenton War Memorial on Friday, March 24, 2006.  The 2006 HIC, sponsored by the New Jersey Historical Commission, the Advocates for New Jersey History, and the New Jersey Council for History Education, will include workshops, an awards lunch, a legislative roundtable, and an exhibit section.
“The Convention this year will bring in professionals from the state history community to focus on such topics as how museums are exploring new ways to interpret history to the public, how history teachers are using new techniques educate their students, how archeologists are digging up new evidence, how archivists are using the Internet to make documents accessible, and how historic sites are finding new ways to attract tourists.”  said Mappen, executive director of the New Jersey Historical Commission, “Attendees at the Convention will come away with practical knowledge they can bring back to their organizations.”
