International Trade Promotion Events

International trade promotional events allow New Jersey companies to explore new markets, identify new business opportunities, and secure distributors, agents and partners in strategic foreign markets. Throughout the year, the State organizes and sponsors international trade missions, trade shows and catalog shows in key overseas markets, where international business opportunities for New Jersey companies are greatest. The State also organizes and sponsors international trade seminars and conferences. Many of the state’s international trade development events are conducted in close partnership with the United States Department of Commerce and foreign governments worldwide. Through linkages with foreign nations, New Jersey is also host to several incoming international trade and business delegations from every corner of the world.
Educational Seminars Through group seminars or individual sessions, the State can help exporters analyze their export potential and orient them toward export techniques and strategies.. The training can help existing New Jersey exporters improve export skills, or assist new-to-export companies enter the global market. The export education may include formal academic instruction, lectures from international industry participants, service training, and one-on-one consulting on the development of an international business plan. New exporters may also refer to A Basic Guide to Exporting published by the U.S. Department of Commerce. Trade Missions and Trade Partnering Activities The State of New Jersey organizes and promotes its own, as well as international business development missions, trade shows and partnering opportunities, organized by local, federal and foreign entities.Trade Missions: State sponsored trade missions abroad enable exporters to partner with potential foreign customers The State organizes trade missions, often led by the Governor or state senior economic growth leaders, to initiate and nurture relationships with potential international business partners. Participating in a trade mission provides New Jersey companies with an opportunity to meet high-level business and government executives face-to-face, greatly enhancing the potential for future business opportunities. Trade shows: The State organizes, participates and sponsors market and industry specific exhibitions of state-produced goods and services in overseas markets. The State works with companies to identify the appropriate trade show and opportunity to market New Jersey products or services and can also arrange pre-qualified meetings with interested buyers and distributors. Catalog Shows: If representatives of any New Jersey company are not able to join state-sponsored trade missions, the state will provide alternative partnering opportunities, such as catalog shows, where highly-experienced state or federal officials can represent you at one-on-one business meetings. A catalog show is an alternative low-cost way for New Jersey companies to gain exposure and develop leads in a new market. The State will represent New Jersey businesses to interested buyers or representatives, distribute company literature and provide those leads to N.J. businesses. Business Networking with Inbound Foreign Buying Missions The State works with foreign governments to host incoming buying missions from the international business community. These delegations have a particular industry focus from which they will buy. The State assists New Jersey companies to identify suitable trading partners.
