Technology Centers
The Technology Centre of New Jersey offers young, growing firms, as well as large established companies, a way to afford modern laboratory and production facilities that are customized to fit their specific research and development needs. Stand-alone facilities from 6,000 to 60,000 square feet can accommodate state-of-the-art clean rooms and wet labs. Individual wet and dry lab modules of 800 square feet, combinable up to 3,200 square feet, are available in our Commercialization Center for Innovative Technologies. Custom build-to-suit facilities are also available for larger companies that require substantial space on an individual basis.

Whether large or small, the State will work closely with you to help program your specific fit-out, while controlling design and construction costs. Plus, it will provide property and management services, leaving you more time for research and development.

Technology Centre of New Jersey
New Jersey boasts more scientists per capita than any other state in the union. In the heart of the state's "Research Corridor" is The Technology Centre of New Jersey.
Located on Route 1 in North Brunswick, the Centre is convenient to both New York City and Philadelphia. Moreover, its proximity to well-known institutions of higher learning and major research corporations provide occupants with access to a highly educated and skilled labor pool. Educational institutions include Rutgers and Princeton universities, the Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital, the Medical Center at Princeton and the University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey (UMDNJ).
The Technology Centre's biosciences neighbors include Johnson & Johnson, Ortho Pharmaceutical, Schering Plough, Hoffmann-LaRoche, Merck, Aventis, Pharmacopeia, Bristol-Myers Squibb, Covance and many more. Lucent Technologies, the David Sarnoff Research Center, Bellcore, NEC Research Institute, Siemens Research and other leaders in the advanced technology industries of telecommunications, advanced materials, micro electronics and computer applications are also prevalent in the "Research Corridor."
Waterfront Technology Center at Camden
The Waterfront Technology Center at Camden is the latest in the continuing development of the Waterfront Technology Campus and a prime example of the New Jersey Economic Development Authority's efforts to provide first-class, state-of-the-art facilities for growing technology companies. The 100,000-square-foot facility has been designed exclusively to accommodate the work of established businesses and startups in the biosciences, microelectronics, advanced materials, information technology and other high-tech and life sciences fields.

The five-story, contemporary glass and metal building offers affordable production, laboratory and office space that can be customized in flexible unit sizes and configurations to handle individual operating requirements and special needs of tenants.

The Center is fully equipped with all the amenities that technology companies need. These amenities include:

  • Redundant high-power electrical service, broadband access and other specialized equipment and services to support information technology
  • The capability for storing critical-asset computer, laboratory and telecommunications equipment
  • Energy-efficient green building technologies that help keep costs down and provide a sustainable facility
  • An Ideal Location and Talented Labor Pool
Situated along Camden’s burgeoning waterfront – a gateway to the long technology corridor that runs through New Jersey – and in proximity to other technology companies, universities and research centers, the Waterfront Technology Center offers an ideal location convenient to a pool of talented people and important local and regional resources.

The Waterfront Technology Center is located within Camden’s Innovation Zone, a geographically defined area established to spur collaboration among the state’s public research institutions, medical research facilities and technology businesses to encourage the more rapid transfer of discoveries from the laboratory to the marketplace. Several EDA technology financing and incentive programs have been enhanced to offer added benefits to companies locating within Innovation Zones.

Waterfront Technology Center neighbors include L-3 Communications Corporation, a major supplier to the U.S. government and private industry of secure communications systems, and the Coriell Institute for Medical Research, an independent, not-for-profit research organization dedicated to understanding human genetic diseases. Southern New Jersey campuses of Rutgers University and the University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey are also located nearby.  Located near the New Jersey Turnpike and Interstate 295, the facility is easily accessible by auto and public transportation from any direction and features ample parking for those who drive.

The Waterfront Technology Center at Camden offers flexible unit sizes starting at 5,000 square feet and a highly competitive lease rate.  Incentives also fit-out allowances for any facility improvements that tenants make and New Jersey Sales Tax exemptions on any purchases of construction materials and equipment.

The EDA works closely on fit-out, which helps to control design and construction costs, and provides property and management services that allows tenants to concentrate on their business.  Additionally, the EDA provides an array of important financing resources, many tailored specifically for technology companies, from low-interest loans and loan guarantees to tax incentives and creative financing packages that can give tenants access to capital and bridge funding gaps while improving their strategic advantage.
