HOW
DO YOU KNOW WHEN GRADUATION REQUIREMENTS ARE MET?
SRA candidates meet the graduation assessment requirement only
when the district receives written approval from the county superintendent.
REPORTING REQUIREMENTS
DISTRICT ROLE: Although all
districts in New Jersey have adopted a combination of
state and local graduation requirements, the decision on whether
a student graduates is made by the local school district, pursuant
to law and rule. The district superintendent and the high school
principal are required to verify that each student's performance
on the SRA PAT meets or exceeds the proficiency level of the state's
graduation assessment.
COUNTY SUPERINTENDENT ROLE: The county superintendent
reviews the SRA student profiles to ensure that each local district implementation
of the SRA process is in compliance.
STATE ROLE: The state's role
is to ensure that the rights of all students are protected according
to relevant statute and code.
WHAT
DOES THE STUDENT HAVE TO DO?
All SRA students must continue to take the HSPA each time it is administered,
including March of the senior year. This requirement serves to
underscore the fact that the HSPA is the primary means to demonstrate
proficiency in the language arts literacy and mathematics content
areas.
