How to request special accommodations in GED testing?

Tests of General Educational Development (GED_®)

If you are a qualified candidate with a Specific Learning Disability (SLD), a physical disability, or a psychological disability, you can ask for a special edition of the GED tests or modifications to the test administration that will help you to take the GED tests. The passing score requirements are the same for all candidates.

In accordance with the Americans with Disabilities Act of 1990, a GED Testing Center must ensure that testing services are provided to candidates with disabilities in order to continue to qualify as an official GED Testing Center.
If you have a diagnosed Specific Learning Disability (SLD), or Attention Deficit Disorder (ADD or ADHD), ask the testing center for FORM L-15.
If you have a physical or psychological disability, ask the testing center for FORM SA-001.
A professional, licensed in a discipline relevant to the disability, must complete and sign the forms, certifying the diagnosis and need for special accommodations or special editions of the test.
Supporting records on letterhead, signed by the certifying professional, must be attached to the forms.
Return the completed form and supporting records to the Chief Examiner at the local testing center where you plan to take the tests. The Chief Examiner reviews the application for completeness and signs the testing center section of the form.
The testing center forwards the form and records to the State GED Administrator for the screening review. Accommodation decisions may be made either by the State GED administrator or the GEDTS, depending on the nature of the documentation and type of request. If you disagree with the determination, you can appeal for a review by a panel of independent experts at the GED Testing Service (GEDTS), Washington D.C. If you disagree with the findings of the appeal panel, your request can be sent to the GEDTS for a final clinical case review.
