When they first thought of becoming a foster family, the Arsenises wondered if it might be too hard to let go when a child was able to return home.
But now - several years after they made the decision to become a foster family - the joys have far outweighed any concerns.
Foster parent Trish Arsenis says "It's been a great experience and a complete blessing to my family."
When one of the children in their care was unable to return home, Trish and her husband, Alan, made the decision to adopt her. "She was already part of our family, we just made it official," she said.
The Arsenises share their experiences and assist DYFS in recruitment efforts by speaking to and encouraging prospective families to join in the fight for New Jersey's most vulnerable children. Trish said, "If you have had a desire or thought about looking into it, do it for the kids."
