Program Description
The Cancer Education and Early Detection (NJCEED) Program provides breast, cervical, prostate and colorectal cancer outreach, education and screening services to eligible people who are of low income and are uninsured or underinsured. Services are provided through 23 screening programs in 21 counties.
Services for women:
Cervical Cancer screenings which may include a pap smear and pelvic exam
Breast Cancer screenings which may include: a clinical breast exam, mammogram, and instructions on breast self-examination
Colorectal Cancer screenings which may include: fecal occult blood test (FOBT), colonoscopy, and/or flexible sigmoidoscopy
Education regarding risk factors and the importance of Early Detection
Services for men:
Prostate Cancer screenings which may include: a digital rectal exam and prostate specific antigen test (PSA)
Colorectal Cancer screenings which may include: fecal occult blood test (FOBT), colonoscopy, and/or flexible sigmoidoscopy
Breast Cancer screenings (for men at high-risk for breast cancer)

Eligibility
General Requirements:
Must reside in New Jersey
women age 18 years and older
men age 50 years and older
High-risk populations and anyone with a personal or family history may begin screening at a younger age
Must be uninsured or underinsured
Income Requirements:
Must be within 250% of Federal Poverty Level (FPL). For calendar year 2008, the FPL for a family of one equals $10,400. Multiply that by a factor of 250% making the allowable annual income $26,000 for a family of one.
